Download the Application: (word) (.pdf)
The SD EPSCoR Office announces the availability of seven (7) one-year research assistantships that will be available beginning July 1, 2008. Preference will be given to Ph.D candidates but master’s students are eligible to apply.
The application process is a joint undertaking between a student and their research advisor with the advisor completing the application. A complete application consists of the following:
- An application form completed by the student (attached).
- A one-page summary written by the research advisor describing the research to be performed during this year (problem statement, methods, expected outcomes).
- The research advisor should send the summary (above) as an e-mail attachment to one of the PANS co-principal investigators (Drs. Jon Kellar or Mary Berry). They will certify that this project is consistent with the “Grand Challenges” of the PANS research infrastructure development area via a return e-mail. The e-mail certifying the project as consistent with the PANS focus area should be included as a part of the application.
- A letter from the research advisor confirming that they are supervising the student’s dissertation research and committing adequate O&M to complete the research proposed for the year of the assistantship.
- An unofficial copy of the student’s transcript (this can be printed directly from WebAdvisor).
Awards will be made in the order that complete applications are received until all the assistantships have been awarded.
