With the help of a $12,000 grant from South Dakota EPSCoR and the Department of Education, Brookings High School will begin offering two robotics classes starting this fall.
The robotics program idea was first started when SDSU Computer Science Department contacted Brookings High School and asked it to become part of a project that involved building and programming robots. The program, say developers, is an opportunity to present engineering design, scientific process, technology literacy and mathematics in a way that students find engaging and understand. It also addresses STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) competencies.
