Fedora Sutton

Professor

Ph.D. Howard University College of Medicine 1985

Dr. Fedora Sutton is an Associate Professor in the
Departments of Plant Science and Biology/Microbiology.
Research efforts focus on plant response to environmental
stimuli. You can visit the Freeze Resistance Laboratory
for more infomation on Dr. Sutton's research projects.

"In order to survive, plants, like other organisms, need to be
able to sense their environment. Thus we focus our efforts
on the identification of plant hormone receptors and second
messenger systems. This is an interdisciplinary approach involving the use of biochemical,
molecular and electrophysiological techniques. In particular, we study low temperature,
dehydration and gravity responses. The experimental plant systems used are diverse:
wheat, tobacco, Zea mays, Vicia faba and Arabidopsis."
