Dr.
Scalet is a Professor and Head of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries
Sciences. He joined the Department faculty in 1973 and became Head in 1976.
He has responsibilities in teaching, research, service, and administration.Administrative responsibilities involve serving as chief administrative officer of the Department. The most important aspects of the position involve facilitating the activities and development of the faculty, students, and staff of the Department. His teaching responsibilities primarily involve Ichthyology (WL 367) and Integrated Natural Resources Management (ABS 475). He also advises and mentors students. Research activities primarily revolve around fisheries ecology and management. Research responsibilities include a South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station project. In 1996, Dr. Scalet coauthored (with Drs. Flake and Willis) the text "Introduction to Wildlife and Fisheries: An Integrated Approach".
