Thomas Chase,

Dr. Chase conducts research and teaching in the fields of plant pathology and
fungal genetics.
Basic research interests include the population genetics of plant pathogens, PCR-based
molecular diagnostics, and the genetics of horizontal pathosystems. Research
projects
currently focus on diseases of soybean, including Phytophthora root & stem rot,
as well as
stem canker and the Diaporthe/Phomopsis complex. Projects encompass
genetic, pathogenic
and molecular variability in field populations of pathogens as well as screening
of soybean lines

Diseases of Field Crops PS333),
an internet-assisted course, as well as graduate courses in plant
pathology and
mycology.
Dr. Chase serves on the NCR-137 (Soybean Diseases) Committee and is the
webmaster for the Plant Science Department.
